The Shook Home’s therapy program can help you to feel more in control, become stronger and help you to achieve your highest potential.
An experienced team of doctors, nurses, therapists, therapeutic recreation assistants and social worker can assess your needs and create an individualized care plan. The therapists are here to help you to recover as quickly and as thoroughly as possible.
The Shook Home participates in the Medicare and Medicaid system in order to help achieve the resident’s highest potential.
Hospice Care
Hospice is a special way of caring for people with terminal illnesses and their families. A terminal illness can cause many reactions, including: pain and discomfort, fear and loneliness and anxiety about what lies ahead with regard to their illnesses. Hospice strives to meet all of the nursing home resident’s needs…physical, emotional, social and spiritual.
A team provides care for the resident. It’s not possible for one person to meet all of the needs of a seriously ill person. Hospice uses a team approach. They work along with the Shook Home team well as their own team members to work together for the good of the patient and the family.
Respite Care
Respite care provides time off for family members who care for someone who is ill, injured or frail. Caregivers face many challenges. Caregiving is a demanding task and it is easy to neglect your own needs and health issues when caring for a loved one. Caregiver’s need time off for vacations, for dealing with their own health needs and to prevent stress and caregiver burnout. Effective caregiving depends on meeting the caregiver’s own needs for rest and support. Respite care provides caregivers with a planned and temporary break from their responsibilities of care giving.
Respite care provides a safe, warm environment for your loved one when you need a break with caregiving responsibilities. The Shook Home and The Quarters can provide 24 hour a day, temporary care in our skilled care nursing home or in our personal care facility at The Quarters.
